About us

Left to right: Grace, Juliet and Margot.

Three creative, resourceful women who met and became friends and colleagues. We are open-minded, positive and socially aware and always enjoy valuable encounters.

JULIET ROBERTS
Juliet worked for many years as a garden journalist in the UK, and was the Editor of Gardens Illustrated magazine for over 13 years. Relocating to France and living a simpler life has allowed Juliet to explore and hone the traditional leathercraft skills about which she is passionate. She continues to write, garden and each year returns to the UK to judge at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. At home she has her own atelier, where she takes private commissions and teaches.

MARGOT DONKERVOORT
After studying film making at Art College in Utrecht, Margot spent 6 months travelling the world by bicycle. She worked as a director for Dutch television specialising in educational content/ Margot moved to Le Moulin in 1999 and after renovating the property she and her husband established a mini farm and holiday home. She continues to make documentaries and also works on the farm where they are mainly self-sufficient in food.

GRACE CAREY-THOMAS
Having achieved a degree in Ancient World Studies at UCL, Grace decided to explore many other avenues of interest, from cinema programming and community outreach schemes at an arts centre, to training in silversmithing and interior decorating. A self-taught chef, with a deep love for honest, handmade food, she now pours her creativity into a vintage Citroën coffee van in rural France, serving up excellent coffee, exquisite teas and delectable homemade cakes to the local community and travellers alike. She also caters for small events, where her food adds a touch of artisanal magic to each celebration.

Between us we speak 5 languages and are well integrated in the local communities. All three women moved to France to be closer to nature and live in a more ecological manner.
