31 May – 6 June 2026
Join us for an inspiring week of leather craft at a
18th-century watermill in southwest France
About the retreat
Join us for an immersive and inspiring week of leather craft in a beautiful yet little known part of France. Held at the serene location of an restored 18th-century water mill, this special retreat is hosted by three friends: a talented leather work teacher, a local artist-cook and the owner of the mill – three women who share a deep love for craftsmanship, creativity and nature. They also like laughing a lot.
Throughout the week, you’ll be guided through the art and craft of working with leather and will hand stitch your very own bag, using top-quality, vegetable tanned leather, linen thread and solid brass fittings. You will also visit a local tannery to see firsthand how leather is traditionally and sustainably prepared – adding a deeper layer of meaning to every piece you create.
What is included
Accommodation, food, drink and the necessary tools and materials are provided, ensuring that you can concentrate on what really matters: developing your leatherwork skills, nurturing your creativity, taking time out for yourself and having fun with like-minded people. The course will be held in English and no previous experience is necessary. So simply come along, either alone or with a friend, and leave with beautiful creations and special memories.
